It was formally announced that Australia would be partnering with a couple of Chinese companies to establish and construct one of the largest renewable energy projects in the world. The 6 billion dollar venture is set to extensively develop solar and wind energy throughout Australia in the next few years.
Partnered with a couple of China’s largest clean and
renewable energy companies, the group will be called AusChina Group of Energy.
The aim of the AusChina Group is to further spread the utilisation of alternative energy in the country as the resources are available and conditions made it viable. As construction progresses the group aims to produce 1500 megawatts of clean and renewable energy for the national power grid in the next couple of years.
The Chinese counterpart of the group will be providing equipment for wind farms and solar farms as well as the expertise and experience in this kind of projects. It is expected that the group venture will bring many positive outcomes; both from an economic perspective and environmentally as it will put Australia a step closer in achieving its clean and renewable energy goal in the year 2020.
How Australia will benefit from the Venture-
First of all, just the size of the investment will have a huge impact with Australia’s economy; 6 billion dollars is a serious investment and can and will drive more future investors; as this project succeeds many similar other projects will follow.
Secondly, more and more jobs will be created for Aussie’s improving the overall rating of employment of the country. Along with it is the further exposure it brings to advantages & benefits of clean and renewable energy. Hopefully as awareness grows more & more people will make the switch to solar panels and other renewable energy sources, which will further boost the economic state of the country.
Thirdly, with the Carbon Tax looming the project will encourage the business sector of the country to see it as economically viable to make the switch as well; once large scale applications have been proven and the technology and expertise is available. This is our only hope in reducing the overall carbon footprint of all industrialised countries.
Last but not the least, is the potential for much greater adaptation in Australia to alternative energy sources. As large scale projects like this commence, it will finally remove a hidden question mark at the back of everybody’s mind as to whether solar PV technology can really be the answer to our current energy problems.
